THE WHY AND HOW

ABOUT OUR EVENTS

We believe in the power of connection and celebration.

We're not your typical event space—we're a community-driven, co-created experience where everyone contributes to the magic.

Our gatherings are designed to foster connection, creativity, and radical inclusion, all while keeping things fun, safe, and empowering. Whether you're here for a workshop, social event, or something a little more adventurous, here's what you need to know about how we do things.

At AP, we believe in building spaces where everyone is free to be their authentic selves without pressure, judgment, or rigid expectations. Our events exist at the intersection of creativity, mutual care, and self-expression, creating an environment where you can explore, learn, and connect in ways that feel right for you. Some of our gatherings are playful and experimental; others are reflective and intimate. No matter the format, you'll find a culture of respect, curiosity, and radical hospitality.

What makes our events different? They aren't just about showing up—they're about showing up together. Whether you're a long-time community member or stepping into our space for the first time, you're part of something bigger: a collective experience shaped by all of us. Here, participation isn't just encouraged—it's what makes the magic happen. Bring your energy, your creativity, and your respect, and let's build something incredible.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT OUR EVENTS

OUR COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS

Honor Each Voice

Every member brings unique perspectives and experiences. Listen actively and respond with kindness and openness.

Respect Boundaries

Understand and respect personal and physical boundaries. Consent is paramount in all interactions.

Accessibility

We strive to make our space accessible to all. Please communicate your needs, and we will do our best to accommodate. Our entire space is ADA accessible and we have implemented many creature comforts for neurodivergent folks, such as sound dampening and soft lighting.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment or Bigotry

Harassment, discrimination, or any form of abuse will not be tolerated. We are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for everyone. This includes racism, anti-trans, or anti-sex work rhetorics or microaggressions.

Confidentiality

Share responsibly. What is shared here stays here, unless permission to share further is explicitly granted.

OUR EVENTS

Our events are as diverse as our community! All of our events start as ideas from our volunteer team based on the feedback we receive from our community. We endeavor to create unique experiences, champion art and music, and find new ways to bring people together.

We also host workshops, classes, and educational events across a wide spectrum of topics from personal health, consent, physical/mental health, and more.

We host both members and non-members events with a wide range of ticket prices (including free). All of our ticket sales go directly to funding our free/low cost events and the upkeep of our beautiful space.

Educational Workshops

Consent and boundaries, harm reduction, legal rights, creative skills, wellness practices

Community Gatherings

Tavern nights, discussion groups, craft nights, book clubs, game nights

WHY ARE SOME OF OUR EVENTS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER PLACES?

We get it—our pricing might seem a little higher than some other events in the city. But here's the thing: we're not just another party venue or bar. The Autonomy Project is about safety, community, and advocacy—and that sets us apart.

Unlike other spaces that let in just anyone, we're fiercely protective of our community. Our events are intentionally designed to be safe, inclusive, and free of harm, and that starts with how we vet and curate our attendees. The Autonomy Project was founded by fems and thems who understand firsthand the importance of creating spaces where everyone—not just some—can feel respected, celebrated, and secure.

We don't just talk about safety; we live it. Our team has systems in place to keep abusers, predators, and anyone who would victimize our community out of our space. Our policies are strict because they need to be. This isn't a random bar or club—it's a space built on trust, care, and advocacy for the people who need it most.

But let's not forget—our space isn't just safe; it's luxurious. When you walk in, you're stepping into a sanctuary designed to delight and comfort. From custom lighting that creates the perfect vibe, to plush pillows and cozy nooks for connection, to fully stocked bathrooms with high-quality toiletries, every detail is thoughtfully crafted to make you feel cared for. This isn't just an event space; it's a retreat where you can fully relax and be yourself.

And because we're owned and operated by the community, we don't rely on alcohol sales or crammed rooms to make ends meet. Instead, every ticket directly supports a nonprofit that's doing the work—advocating for marginalized groups, creating resources, and maintaining a space where safety and inclusivity come first. Every dime goes back into the community.

When you attend one of our events, you're not just buying a ticket—you're investing in a space created by and for people who will fight to protect you. You're helping ensure that spaces like ours remain a sanctuary, not just for tonight, but for the future. And honestly? That's a value you can't put a price on.

TICKET & REFUND POLICIES

Ticketing 101: What You Need to Know

Tickets are non-transferable. That means no reselling, gifting, or swapping. Your ticket is linked to you and only you—no exceptions. You may not change the name on your ticket to gift it to someone else, or both of you risk termination from our events.

Your ID must match your ticket name. We'll check your government-issued ID at the door to verify your age and registration. But don't worry, if you use a preferred name, you can update your Autonomy Project account with both your legal and preferred name in advance.

Waitlist magic. If an event sells out, hop on the waitlist! If a spot opens, you'll get a notification, but you have to claim it fast—otherwise, it goes to the next person in line.

Event access rules. Some events are for members only, while others welcome non-members. Check your dashboard for the details before heading out.

Refunds: Keeping It Real

All sales are final. No take-backs, no refunds—unless there's a serious issue, and even then, refunds are at the discretion of our leadership. We may elect to provide a discount code for future events however!

Can't make it? We get it, life happens. While we can't offer refunds, keep an eye out for future events—there's always something new coming up. You can always email us and donate your ticket to a community member in need.

Event changes. If we have to reschedule or make a major change, we'll notify you ASAP with your options.

Stay in the Loop

You'll get event confirmations, reminders, and important updates via email or text (if you click the "receive texts from us" box during signup). Make sure your contact info is up to date in your AP account so you don't miss a thing.

Not a fan of extra emails? You can opt out of promos, but we'll still send you need-to-know event info and registration deets.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is the age limit? Is a photo ID required?

All events are for ages 21 and up. Photo ID is required to attend our events.

  • Can I pay with cash or buy extra tickets at the door?

It depends on the event. For members-only or certain social events, tickets must be purchased online. If they are sold out, ticket sales will continue before the event. We may accept ticket purchases at the door for other events, such as classes or discussion groups. It's best to check the event description to determine which. We ask that you always buy tickets in advance when possible. This allows us to plan accordingly regarding volunteers and space needs.

  • Do I need an account to access tickets?

You don't need a paid membership, but you do need to register for a free account first to access event tickets and more. Click the "Sign Up / Login" button at the top to get started. Bonus, having an account gets you access to our dashboard with all the events, rental info, volunteer details, and much more.

  • Can I take pictures here?

Photos and videos are permitted at most events, with the consent of everyone appearing in the photos. There will be a dedicated photo booth at many events. We will have wristbands at the door for those who do not wish to appear in photos and will be militantly upholding the privacy of these guests. We require that everyone's safety and confidentiality be held to the highest regard. If you are found to be taking pictures without consent of everyone in the picture, you may be asked to put away your phone in your vehicle or bag.

  • Will there be food and drinks?

Absolutely! Our Merch stand not only sells all the hottest Wicked Eden and Autonomy Project merchandise, but a variety of drinks, snacks (GF typically available), and refreshments. For our bigger parties, we often book a local food truck for additional food.

  • Will there be alcohol?

It depends! Some of our events serve alcohol and mocktails, while some do not. Be sure to check the event details, so you know what to expect.

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...

Our events are direct productions of our volunteer team, but there's many possibilities beyond attending an event. We welcome our community to get involved and be part of the magic.
